The cable is only for 24V power supply, it allows for hot-plugging too.
This cable is used for extra power supply for scanner and printer, it can support 24V 6A. When the power requirements exceed the 500mA limitation, external peripherals require the use of an external power supply(brick) to supply the necessary power requirements.
